Do you suffer from fatigue and after-dinner dips every day? Then maybe intermittent fasting is a good lifestyle change for you. Intermittent fasting is not a diet, but a new way of thinking about eating where you are allowed to eat for 8 hours in a day and do not eat for the remaining 16 hours. With this, it is recommended that you divide your meals into 2-3 set eating times a day.

The idea behind intermittent fasting is that humans are evolutionarily not designed to have to eat when you are hungry. People used to eat only when food was available, whereas today we are used to eating when we are hungry. The downside of this is that every time we consume a meal, sugar levels go up and the pancreas responds by producing the substance insulin. These insulin spikes in the blood cause the after-dinner dips. Because with intermittent fasting you shorten the period of eating and the number of meals, sugar levels stay lower, so you will suffer less from after-dinner dips. In addition, intermittent fasting increases fat burning resulting in possible weight loss. Intermittent fasting can also lower bad LDL cholesterol in the blood and ensure healthier blood pressure.
Another benefit of intermittent fasting is more rest for the intestinal wall. Every time the intestines digest food, the intestinal wall becomes slightly inflamed, allowing toxins to enter the bloodstream instead of being disposed of from the body. By not eating for 16 hours every day, the intestinal wall is given time to repair and this phenomenon is less likely to occur.
